Have you gone dizzy looking at white paint options? Same! In this post we will be looking at Sherwin Williams Snowbound, but specifically how it compares to all the other white paints out there!

Snowbound Compared to Other Sherwin Williams White and Light Paint Colors
Sherwin Williams is probably the most thorough creator of white paints that there is. Sometimes that’s amazing, and sometimes it makes your head spin!
Here is how Snowbound stacks up against other popular Sherwin Williams white, off-white, and light neutral paint colors:

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Aesthetic White
Aesthetic White is in the exact same area of the color wheel as Snowbound, but it’s darker. I also think it’s a touch less gray, but it’s a bit hard to tell.

Unlike Snowbound, Aesthetic White is an off-white, and not a true white.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Alabaster
Alabaster is less gray, more yellow, and a hair darker than Snowbound:

I actually have a whole post dedicated to this comparison, so that you can see lots of examples in real life: Snowbound vs Alabaster: Which is the Better Sherwin Williams White for Cabinets, Trim, & More
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Ceiling Bright White
Ceiling Bright White is significantly cooler than Snowbound. It is also a little more gray. It has the same LRV (lightness) as Snowbound.

It reads “bright” only because of it’s coolness. There are many brighter whites.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs City Loft
City Loft is a hair cooler than Snowbound, but other than that, it’s just a darker version.

Unlike Snowbound, City Loft is an off-white (bordering on a light neutral), and not a true white.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Creamy
Unlike Snowbound, Creamy is visibly cream, and does not look like a true white.

These two are actually in almost the same color family, but Creamy is very saturated and not gray at all. Creamy is also two LRV points darker than Snowbound.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Crushed Ice
Crushed Ice is slightly more to the yellow area of the color wheel vs Snowbound’s deep orange/red.
It is also significantly darker, which makes it a light neutral, and outside of the white/off-white family altogether.

In addition to these differences, City Loft is also more gray than Snowbound.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Drift of Mist
Drift of Mist is another light neutral paint color, and not a white or off-white. As such, it is quite a bit darker than Snowbound.

Drift of Mist is also ever so slightly cooler than Snowbound.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Dover White
Dover White is more yellow, and significantly more saturated than Snowbound.
Technically the LRV of Dover White makes it a true white still, but it is visibly creamy.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Egret White
Egret White is another off-white (bordering on light neutral) that is in the same color family as Snowbound.
As such, Egret White is significantly darker than Snowbound, and also a little bit less gray.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Eider White
Eider White is an off-white paint color, as opposed to Snowbound’s true white. It is also a little bit more gray.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Extra White
Extra White is a green-based white, so it is much cooler than Snowbound. It is still a true white, but reads “crisp” rather than “soft.”
Extra White is also a tiny bit lighter than Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs First Star
As you can see, First Star is darker and significantly more gray than Snowbound. It is also a lot cooler.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Greek Villa
In general, I would say that Greek Villa is more likely to look visibly creamy than Snowbound. That doesn’t make it a cream paint color, but it is definitely softer than Snowbound, and not as gray.

Greek Villa is a bit more yellow than Snowbound in terms of color family, but it is still very much in the beige region as opposed to butter.
See more here: Sherwin Williams Greek Villa Review (and Dupes!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs High Reflective White
High Reflective White is the lightest and brightest white that Sherwin Williams offers. It is 10 full LRV points lighter than Snowbound.
While I would not say that High Reflective White is stark or overly cool, it is an ultra bright and ultra crisp white, and not soft like Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Ice Cube
Ice Cube is an off-white paint color that is actually a very light gray-green. It can read “white” but never warm or particularly soft like Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Incredible White
Incredible White is actually a touch more red and a touch more gray than Snowbound, in addition to being a bit darker.
I find that these two often do very similar things, the main difference is that Incredible White is visibly a grayish off-white. Both can have slightly pinkish undertones. (In Incredible White’s case, they can look a bit purple too.)

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Marshmallow
Marshmallow is like a slightly more saturated version of Snowbound. Otherwise it is the same color, and just one LRV point darker.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Moderne White
Moderne White is a little bit cooler and much darker than Snowbound. It is an off-white rather than a true white like Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Origami White
Origami White is an off-white, so it is darker than Snowbound. It is also just a little bit cooler.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Oyster White
Oyster White is darker (it’s an off-white) and significantly more saturated (less gray) than Snowbound. The color family is also a touch less red.

See more Oyster White here: Sherwin Williams Oyster White (Review and Dupes!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Pearly White
Pearly White is a little darker and more saturated than Snowbound. It is an off-white, and not a true white.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Pure White
I’ve got a whole post dedicated to this popular showdown here – Sherwin Williams White Battle: Snowbound vs Pure White – but here’s a quick comparison:

I would say that the big difference between Snowbound and Pure White, is that Pure White is almost always undertone-less, but with Snowbound you can find it if you really look. (Less so on walls and trim than with cabinets.)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Reserved White
Reserved White is an off-white, as opposed to Snowbound’s true white. It is also significantly cooler and more gray.
(Basically, these colors have nothing in common.)

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Shoji White
Shoji White is actually pretty similar to off-whites like Aesthetic White and Oyster White, rather than the true white of Snowbound.
The color family of Shoji White is the same as Snowbound, but Snowbound is a bit more gray than Shoji is.

Read my whole post about this color here: Sherwin Williams Shoji White Review and Alternatives (Itโs not greige!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Snowfall
Snowfall is in a similar color family to Snowbound, but it doesn’t really matter because it’s almost completely gray:

Snowfall is also an off-white as opposed to Snowbound’s true white. (Which seems to be a theme with this post!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Toque White
Toque White is just a little bit less gray than Snowbound, and it’s darker (an off-white).

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Westhighland White
Technically Westhighland White is actually lighter than Snowbound, but it doesn’t really read that way because it’s much more saturated. Westhighland White is a bit more yellow-orange rather than orange-red like Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs White Duck
White Duck is darker, more saturated (less gray), and a bit more yellow than Snowbound.
White Duck is an off-white and not a true white.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs White Flour
White Flour is lighter and more saturated than Snowbound. You can see here that White Flour just reads a lot “brighter.”

See more from this color in my post: Sherwin Williams White Flour (Review, Comparisons, and Dupes!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Zurich White
Zurich White is almost identical to Snowbound, it’s just a bit darker.
(By “a bit” I mean that it’s not a true white anymore.)

Sherwin Williams Snowbound Compared to Similar Colors from Other Brands
Well that covers about a million and one Sherwin Williams white comparisons, but doesn’t cover all of the colors that Snowbound is often compared against.
Let’s take a look at Snowbound compared to popular Benjamin Moore and Behr whites that you might also be considering. (Heck, let’s throw in a Valspar color or two as well!)

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Alabaster (Benjamin Moore)
First up we have Snowbound vs Alabaster, but this time we are talking about the Benjamin Moore version, which is quite different from the Sherwin Williams color.
Benjamin Moore Alabaster is a little lighter, more saturated, and more yellow than Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Balboa Mist (Benjamin Moore)
Balboa Mist is a light neutral paint color, as it’s too dark to still be classified as an off-white even.
In addition to being much darker than Snowbound, Balboa Mist is a bit more gray. It is also from a slightly more yellow color family, rather than the deep orange-red of Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Blank Canvas (Behr)
Blank Canvas is visibly warm, unlike Snowbound, which still looks very much “white.” Blank Canvas is much more saturated and a bit lighter.

You can see that Blank Canvas is a bit more yellow than Snowbound.
Check out my post about this trendy white here: Behr 2023 Color of the Year Blank Canvas Review (Better Than Swiss Coffee?)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Classic Gray (Benjamin Moore)
Classic Gray has a terrible name, let’s establish that right now. It is a fairly neutral off-white, and doesn’t really look gray at all.
Classic Gray is slightly more yellow-toned than Snowbound, and it is darker. I love Classic Gray as an off-white! If you want a darker alternative to Snowbound, you will probably love it too.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Cloud White (Benjamin Moore)
Cloud White is a white by Benjamin Moore that is much brighter and more yellow than Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Cloud Cover (Benjamin Moore)
Finally a Benjamin Moore white that makes us look twice!
Cloud Cover is a touch darker and more yellow than Snowbound, and a bit more saturated (less gray).

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Decoratorโs White (Benjamin Moore)
Decorator’s White is a true white by Benjamin Moore that is quite cool, as opposed to the warm white of Snowbound. It is also more gray.

Decorator’s White is one of those whites that can look quite stark.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Dove Wing (Benjamin Moore)
Dove Wing is a Benjamin Moore off-white, as opposed to the true white of Snowbound. While Dove Wing is very neutral like Snowbound, it is a bit less gray, and the color family is slightly more yelllow.
Basically, Dove Wing is an obviously creamy neutral paint color, as opposed to a white like Snowbound.

I often recommend Dove Wing due to it’s versatility. See more from it here: Dove Wing by Benjamin Moore Review (See Real Homes and Dupes!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs First Snow (Behr)
Behr First Snow is just slightly more yellow and more saturated than Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Oxford White (Benjamin Moore)
Oxford White is much cooler and lighter than Snowbound. Like Snowbound, it ranges in appearance from a true bright white to a white with subtle warmth.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Pale Oak (Benjamin Moore)
Pale Oak is a light greige by Benjamin Moore, and not a white like Snowbound.
(Although it is just barely outside of the off-white LRV range)

Pale Oak is from a slightly more yellow color family than Snowbound, but other than that, it is pretty close to being a darker version.
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Polar Bear (Behr)
Like Snowbound, Polar Bear by Behr is a pretty neutral white. Polar Bear is much lighter however, and yellow based, as opposed to orange-red.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Seapearl (Benjamin Moore)
Benjamin Moore Seapearl (aka China White) is an off-white and not a true white like Snowbound. It is also more yellow and just a touch more saturated.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Simply White (Benjamin Moore)
Simply White is lighter, brighter, and more yellow than Snowbound. Despite being lighter, I find that Simply White reads creamy more often than Snowbound does.

See more here – Simply White: A Benjamin Moore Classic (Plus Alternatives!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Steamย (Benjamin Moore)
Steam is a tiny bit lighter than Snowbound, and significantly more yellow. Steam does have quite a lot of gray in it, so like Snowbound, it stays looking pretty neutral.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Swiss Coffee (Valspar, Benjamin Moore, & Behr)
This is a complicated comparison, because nearly everyone besides Sherwin Williams has a Swiss Coffee color.

Snowbound vs Behr Swiss Coffee
The Behr version of Swiss coffee is more yellow, and significantly more saturated (less gray) than Snowbound.
Snowbound vs Benjamin Moore Swiss Coffee
The Benjamin Moore version of Swiss Coffee is more similar to Snowbound than the Behr one is, mostly because it is more gray (and therefore more neutral). It is still more yellow and a bit more saturated however.
Snowbound vs Valspar Swiss Coffee
The Valspar version of Swiss Coffee is much lighter than both the Benjamin Moore and Behr versions, as well as Snowbound.
It is a little bit more yellow than Snowbound, but not as much as the other Swiss Coffees, and it has approximately the same level of saturation (grayness).
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Ultra White (Valspar)
Valspar’s Ultra White is the lightest and brightest white that they offer. It is much cooler and lighter than Snowbound. It is a green-based white and not creamy at all, but it is a bit gray like Snowbound.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs Vanilla Milkshake (Benjamin Moore)
Vanilla Milkshake is just slightly more saturated than Snowbound, but it is loads cooler. It is a yellow, bordering on green, white.

Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs White Dove (Benjamin Moore)
White Dove and Snowbound look more similar on paper than in real life:

White Dove is a true white with more creaminess than Snowbound. It is only slightly more saturated because it also has a good amount of neutralizing gray in it.
White Dove is a yellow-based white as opposed to deep orange like Snowbound.
Like the look of this white? See more here: White Dove by Benjamin Moore Complete Review (and Dupes!)
Sherwin Williams Snowbound vs White Heron (Benjamin Moore)
I was today-years-old when I learned that Oxford White and White Heron are one and the same color. All the spreadsheets and color comparisons didn’t get through to me until this very moment.

In case you skipped it: “Oxford White is much cooler and lighter than Snowbound. Like Snowbound, it ranges in appearance from a true bright white to a white with subtle warmth.” So same goes for White Heron.
How Does Snowbound Compare to Other White Paints?
A couple of things that I noticed after sitting down to compare all of these:
- Benjamin Moore’s most popular whites all tend to be more yellow than Snowbound
- Snowbound is more gray than almost every white that still reads “white”
- Several of Sherwin Williams most popular off-whites could be considered darker versions of Snowbound (Therefore Snowbound is rightfully a very popular true white option!)
I hope this post helped you decide if Snowbound is the one for you! If it’s not, take a wander through these other colors:
