Benjamin Moore Dark Harbor is a deep and vibrant teal that easily becomes the star of any space. If you can’t get yourself to a Benjamin Moore store, or you have a preferred brand, here are some very slay alternatives to this very specific shade!

What color is Benjamin Moore Dark Harbor?
I do have another post that is a more thorough look at Dark Harbor, where you can find coordinating color ideas and see it in real life: 7 Coordinating Colors to Love with Benjamin Moore Dark Harbor (See this Tempting Teal!)
For the sake of knowing what we’re talking about, let’s do a quick recap!

Dark Harbor is a fairly saturated deep teal. Technically it is a pretty true teal, sitting right between blue and green:

However, if this color is going to have an undertone, it will be closer to emerald than navy.
Here is a look at both ends of the undertone spectrum for Dark Harbor:

Now on to the dupes!

Get the Dark Harbor Look From Sherwin Williams
Over at rival paint company Sherwin Williams, the best dupe for Dark Harbor is their shade Moscow Midnight.

This color is the deepest teal that Sherwin Williams carries that has a similar undertone to Dark Harbor, but you can see that it is still a bit more blue.
As a result, Moscow Midnight can sometimes look navy, and it is less likely to look emerald.

This color is not quite as close as I would like, but for a true to tone color match, we will have to go a bit lighter or darker.
If you are willing to go darker, you might like Sherwin Williams Cascades.

Technically this color is darker and a little bit less saturated than Dark Harbor, but it stays more green-teal and doesn’t ever look navy.

For a lighter color with a very close undertone to Dark Harbor, you might like Sherwin Williams Deep Sea Dive.

Deep Sea Dive in real life is like a subtler version of Dark Harbor. It has the same look, but with a little less boldness.

Dupe Dark Harbor at Home Depot (Behr)
Over at Home Depot, the best alternative to Dark Harbor is the color Ocean Abyss.

Despite how it looks on paper, in real life this color comes across as almost identical to Dark Harbor.
It can range in appearance from true teal to a more emerald version, and despite being lighter than Dark Harbor it maintains the same look of depth and richness.
If you were to see this color in one home and Dark Harbor in another, it would be hard to tell the difference. The contrast is only obvious in a side by side comparison.
Best Valspar Version of Dark Harbor (Lowe’s)
For a dupe from the other big box store, the best option is Valspar Perfect Storm.

I would have liked to get a color match that was a little closer, and one with more photos, but alas – Valspar’s deep teal range is pretty sparse.
Perfect Storm is the best overall tone match to Dark Harbor, but it is still a little more muted looking.

This toned-down teal is a beautiful color in its own right, even if you won’t be fooled into thinking it’s Dark Harbor.
There is one darker shade on this same color strip: Everglade Deck.

…but this color looks even more muted than Perfect Storm, so ultimately I think that Perfect Storm is a better dupe.

Here’s another look at each of the dupes:

I hope this helped you find a great substitution for Benjamin Moore Dark Harbor! Ultimately the more “specific” and bold a color gets, the harder it is to find perfect color matches, but we did okay in the end.
Thanks so much for reading until the end! That really helps my blog. Still looking for the perfect color? Allow me to serve up some other great options:
