White Dove is a very popular soft white paint color from Benjamin Moore, but sometimes you just need to use another brand!
If you are a little hesitant to color match, but prefer to get your paint from Sherwin Williams, Home Depot, or Lowe’s, here are some alternatives to White Dove from these other brands.
Before we begin, I do have a complete review of White Dove that you can also take a look at. That post is where you will find more information about undertones and see the color in real homes.
White Dove Undertones in Real Life
Really quickly before we get into dupes, here is a very typical look to Benjamin Moore White Dove:
You can see that it looks like a pretty true white, but there is some warmth to it. White Dove has a creamy beige undertone, where the beige leans more peach than yellow.
Sherwin Williams White Dove Equivalent
Sherwin Williams surprised me, because they are the godfather of white paint colors (they just have sooo many!), but White Dove was a little hard to match.
Here are some of the most common comparisons from Sherwin Williams:
A lot of these colors get pretty close, but they aren’t quite right. Pure White is almost right but it’s a touch too gray, Alabaster is too dark, and I have a whole post on Snowbound vs White Dove.
So what’s a girl to do?
The closest white from Sherwin Williams that is the same tone, is their color Cold Foam:
Sherwin Williams Cold Foam (SW 9504)
Cold Foam is a touch darker than White Dove, but is very much in the same spirit:
The majority of Sherwin Williams whites are from a slightly warmer color family than White Dove, so it is a bit tricky to match.
Here are the hex charts of each color:
It’s still tricky to see the difference, so here are the charts merged together:
You can see that Cold Foam is still a little bit warmer than White Dove, but it’s pretty close. Of all the SW white paint colors that could work, Cold Foam is the best!
All the Best Dupes for Benjamin Moore White Dove From Other Brands
Here are all of the dupes that we are going to look at in this post:
We covered Sherwin Williams already, so let’s move on to the rest!
Valspar (Lowe’s) Equivalent to White Dove
Valspar and Behr have the best overall dupes for White Dove.
The closest color match from Valspar is the aptly named “Dove White.”
Valspar Dove White vs White Dove from Benjamin Moore
Dove White is very very similar to White Dove. Technically it is a little bit warmer and less gray, but the difference is hard to spot.
This is a sold alternative to White Dove, but Behr’s is even better!
White Dove Behr Equivalent (Home Depot)
Behr’s dupe for White Dove is the color Snowy Pine. This is the closest color match of all!
Behr Snowy Pine (PPU10-13)
Ignoring for a moment that a color named Snowy Pine should surely be a frosty green, this creamy white is an excellent match for White Dove.
Snowy Pine is essentially in the exact same area of the color wheel, but it’s just a little less gray.
Farrow & Ball White Dove Equivalent
Farrow & Ball has a pretty limited color selection compared to the other major brands, so I was honestly surprised to get as close of a match as I did.
The closest color match to White Dove is Farrow & Ball Wimborne White.
Farrow & Ball Wimborne White (No. 239)
Wimborne White is a little brighter and peachier than White Dove. It doesn’t quite have the same muted creamy quality.
Here is a more direct comparison of all these dupes where White Dove is the background color:
Behr’s Snowy Pine is definitely the best match!
Now that we’re done with all the color matches, I should add that you might also like Behr’s 2023 Color of the Year: Blank Canvas
Blank Canvas is warmer and more overtly creamy than White Dove, but the undertone is similar.
I hope that helped you choose another brand’s version of White Dove to use in your next project! If you are still undecided, here are some other options!:
