Sherwin Williams Halcyon Green is a muted sea green that is almost seafoam, but a little bit darker. You could also describe it as a smoked-out blue sage.

Here we will take a look at Halcyon Green with my favorite coordinating colors, and go over the recommendations made by Sherwin Williams. Really quickly before we get into it, we will also talk undertones.
What Are the Undertones of Sherwin Williams Halcyon Green?
You could say that Halcyon Green has blue undertones, but are they really undertones when it’s so up front? I find that this color is an almost equal mix of blue and green, but there is definitely a little more green.
Here is an example of what Halcyon Green looks like, using Jasper Stone (one shade darker, but it looks very light here).

Halcyon Green technically has some gray undertones, but think of those as mellowing the color out, rather than actually making the color look gray.
I personally find Halcyon Green to be fairly true to tone. It can look neutral to cool, but warm green undertones are pretty unlikely.
Here is Halcyon Green on kitchen cabinets in a home by the team at Mission Homes LLC, which is a good example of the warmest and most green that the color ever looks:

Halcyon Green in the Sherwin Williams Color Strip
The Sherwin Williams color strip that brings us Halcyon Green has also produced some other favorites! :

The other colors in this collection are:
- Window Pane
- Rainwashed
- Quietude
- Jasper Stone
- Underseas
- Rocky River (You can see this color in my Tantalizing Teal Paint Colors for Kitchen Cabinets post!)
- Jasper
Underseas is the only color here that I don’t see a whole lot of. The others are all pretty popular! (Halcyon Green is probably the next least popular.)
Sherwin Williams Halcyon Green in a Color Palette
Here are my favorite colors to pair with Halcyon Green, but this color is surprisingly flexible, so you can always try your favorites!

Be mindful of pairing Halcyon Green with truer or brighter greens. You may find that the color looks very blue or gray in comparison.
Coordinating White Paint Color for Halcyon Green
For a crisp but creamy white to pair with Halcyon Green, try Sherwin Williams White Snow.

This white is nice and bright, but still has a forward creamy undertone. White Snow is the closest thing that Sherwin Williams offers to the fan favorite Benjamin Moore Simply White.
You might also like Sherwin Williams White Flour, which has a complementary undertone for Halcyon Green.
Try Halcyon Green with Sherwin Williams Mount Etna
Mount Etna is a blackened teal that has similar qualities to Halcyon Green, but of course on a much darker scale.

You could also use Jasper, which is the darkest shade on the Halcyon Green color strip, but it is a bit more green, where Mount Etna leans more true teal.
Pair Halcyon Green and Sherwin Williams Blustery Sky
I actually wanted to put Sherwin Williams Debonair in this color palette, because the smokey subdued blue seemed like it would work beautifully with Halcyon Green. In the end, I sided with just a hair more contrast, and went one shade darker with Blustery Sky.

Blustery Sky is a moody gray blue that leans more to the green side of blue. You should expect it to stay looking blue against the much greener Halcyon Green, but that undertone helps these two coordinate beautifully!
Neutral Paint Color to Use with Halcyon Green
For my palette I chose a cooler neutral, and went with Sherwin Williams Big Chill.

Big Chill is a silvery gray color with just a hint of a taupey undertone. I like this pairing because Big Chill’s sometimes-violet undertone emphasizes the green in Halcyon Green, and also helps keep the gray at bay.
You could use virtually any gray, greige, beige, or tan with Halcyon Green however.
Sherwin Williams Recommends These Coordinating Colors
Here are the shades that the pros at Sherwin Williams suggest you use with Halcyon Green:

I neither love nor hate this color palette. File it under: “I get it. I respect it.” One color is from the same color strip as Halcyon Green, and the other colors are complementary. (Across the wheel.)
Use Halcyon Green with Window Pane
There’s not really a universe in which a lighter or darker shade from the same color strip doesn’t work as a coordinating color, so of course: Window Pane plays well with Halcyon Green.

Pair Halcyon Green and Sherwin Williams Kestrel White
I like the choice of Kestrel White with Halcyon Green. This creamy off-white has a pinky-beige undertone, which is complementary to green. (That just means you can find it directly across the color wheel.)

The downside to this pairing, is that you might find the green of Halcyon emphasizes the pink in Kestrel White.
Use Halcyon Green and Sherwin Williams Henna Shade
Sherwin Williams recommends another complementary color for Halcyon Green in the form of Henna Shade.

I actually like Henna Shade quite a lot. I love a popping pink terracotta. Currently it would be a bit more trendy to use an earthier, more natural clay color with Halcyon Green, but this certainly works.
For me this duo is a bit too contrasty, but for accents like furniture, I would like it.
What is the Difference Between Halcyon Green and Quietude?
As we saw earlier, Quietude is one shade lighter than Halcyon Green on the same color strip.

These two tend to run the same range of undertones, but because it is lighter, Quietude is a little more likely to look gray than Halcyon Green is.
I hope this post helped you decide if Halcyon Green is for you, and what colors to use with it. Thank you so much for reading until the end, that really helps my blog!
Still undecided? I’ve got so much more!
