Whether you have a preferred brand of paint, or you are just shopping around, there are some amazing alternatives to Sherwin Williams Pure White that do the job just as well!

Here we will see what to expect of Pure White, take a look at the Benjamin Moore version, and then see alternatives from Behr and Valspar.

Pure White Undertones in Real Life

Before we begin, let’s take a look at what Pure White actually looks like!

This classic white is a true white, but not a cool white. It has a little bit of warmth, but that is mostly neutralized by a hint of gray.

This is how Pure White normally presents when it is the solo white in your color scheme:

You can see that it is warmer than a sheet of paper, but not overtly creamy.

Here is a better look at the undertone, when Pure White is placed directly beside bright blue-white tiles:

You can see that it is definitely a warm white, but the undertone is still pretty neutral. This is how you can expect it to look if you pair it with cool bright white trim.

Here is another typical look to Pure White:

Here the color looks a little crisper, but still soft.

Finally, here is Pure White’s brightest and coolest look:

All that to say, if you are trying to match Pure White, I hope this is the look you’re going for!

Now let’s get on with the dupes!

    Benjamin Moore Pure White Dupes

There are a few different Benjamin Moore colors that the internet claims are color matches for Pure White. The most popular are White Dove, Oxford White, and Chantilly Lace.

Graphic reads "Benjamin Moore Pure White Dupes" with a smear of wet white paint and swatches over top of popular Benjamin Moore Pure White alternatives: Vanilla Milkshake, Oxford White, Bistro White, and White Dove.

While those are all great whites, the closest visual match is actually Vanilla Milkshake (OC-59).

Pure White vs Benjamin Moore Vanilla Milkshake (OC-59)

Vanilla Milkshake is ever so slightly cooler than Pure White, but it’s a near perfect dupe.

Here is a look at the color codes compared:

Vanilla Milkshake on half of a wall behind a mustard couch with Pure White on the other half and the hex codes for each color over top, marking the slight differences.

On paper, White Dove is also very close to Pure White, but in real life the color has a stronger peach-leaning undertone, so I actually think the little bit of coolness in Vanilla Milkshake might make it an even better match.

If you are less concerned with the perfect match for Pure White, and more concerned about the perfect undertone-less white, give Chantilly Lace a look.

    Valspar Dupe for Pure White

Heading on over to Lowe’s, we find that the best color match for Pure White is Valspar Bistro White:

Pure White vs Bistro White (7006-4)

Bistro White is a really good color match for Pure White, but it is a tiny bit warmer/creamier. You can see that here, where Bistro White has a slightly redder color chart:

Another Valspar color you might like, is their version of Swiss Coffee. It’s a little bit warmer still, but I find in real life it has a very similar feel to Pure White:

    Pure White in Behr Paint

Hopping on over to Home Depot, Pure White is a very close match to the popular Behr shade called “White.”

Sherwin Williams Pure White vs Behr White (52)

Behr’s “White” is the tiniest bit more gray than Pure White. It is also a hair cooler, as you can see from the slightly greener color chart:

Pure White Behr dupe White, on half of a wall behind a gray wainscoting in a bathroom with a white claw foot tub front and center. The hex codes for each color are compared over top.

“White” is somewhere between Pure White and SW Extra White if you wanted to be really picky about it. (You can see Pure White vs Extra White here.) I would not choose White 52 expecting to have a warm undertone, just a nice true white.

For another nice “just white” option from Behr, you might also like Behr Diamonds Therapy.

That’s all I have for color matches for Sherwin Williams Pure White! Thanks so much for reading to the end, that really helps my site.

Not the right white? It’s what I’ve covered most! :
