Whitetail is a creamy white paint color that is pretty similar to hugely popular Sherwin Williams whites, but it’s a touch lighter and brighter. Here we will look at some colors that coordinate beautifully with Whitetail, and also see the Sherwin Williams picks!

What Are the Undertones of Sherwin Williams Whitetail?
For an in depth look at Whitetail, I talk a lot more about undertones and the color in real life in my full review. I also have a Whitetail color palette over there that features pastels.
For this post let’s keep it quick! Whitetail is a creamy white paint color that doesn’t have really any gray in it. Most whites have at least a little bit, and that’s what gives them a toned-down beige undertone.

Whitetail tends to have stronger yellow to peach undertones, but it’s also lighter than most whites, so that helps it to look more like a true white.
Here is a fairly typical look for Whitetail:

Now that we know what Whitetail actually looks like, here are some colors that I think coordinate beautifully with this soft white:

Neutral Paint Color to Use with Whitetail
If you want to use Whitetail for only your trim, cabinets, or doors, and a different neutral for your walls, try Valspar Warm Putty.

Warm Putty is a taupey neutral that adapts a lot to different lighting and the colors around it. This mushroom color will look great with Whitetail, and Whitetail will in turn help it stay neutral.
For a Sherwin Williams option, Warm Putty is actually a dupe for Taupe of the Morning.
For a cooler neutral wall color that isn’t a plain gray, try Benjamin Moore Gray Owl with Whitetail.

Gray Owl is a silvery gray-green with a bit more depth than other light colors. You should expect that Whitetail might make it look a touch blue-green in cooler lighting and in north facing rooms.
For another option, try Behr Platinum. You may also like Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, but it is a little more overtly green.
Try Whitetail with Sherwin Williams Cyberspace
I feel like almost any color scheme can use a charcoal, and for Whitetail I went with the deep blue-charcoal of Cyberspace.

Blue is complementary to Whitetail, so it will help this white to look warmer and creamier. Whitetail will emphasize the blue undertone of Cyberspace.
You might also like Benjamin Moore Soot.
Use SW Hushed Auburn with Whitetail
For a much warmer coordinating color, try Whitetail with Sherwin Williams Hushed Auburn.

Hushed Auburn is a deep autumn clay with a slight pink undertone. This complicated hue can be used like a neutral, and favors a warm white like Whitetail.

Pair Benjamin Moore Carolina Gull and Whitetail
I truly think that you can find a sage green that works with just about any color under the sun, so I had to pick one for Whitetail!

Benjamin Moore Carolina Gull is a quintessential sage green. It’s a nice mid-toned color that is on the warmer side of green, but still has a silvery sage undertone.
For a Sherwin Williams option, try Acacia Haze or Retreat.

Sherwin Williams Recommends These Coordinating Colors
Now that we’ve looked at my pairing picks for Whitetail, let’s take a look at Sherwin Williams’!
Sherwin Williams typically recommends three coordinating colors for each of their shades, including one white. I suppose because Whitetail is a white, they only went with two:

They kept their palette very neutral, but on the warm side of neutral.
Pair Whitetail and Sherwin Williams Cocoa Whip
Cocoa Whip is somewhere between a warm beige and taupe, but you should expect it to lean more taupe when paired with Whitetail.

I really like this combination and I also like Cocoa Whip in general. It’s almost like a darker alternative to Warm Putty.
Use Whitetail with Touch of Sand
I don’t like to cheat and look at the Sherwin suggestions in advance, but had I done so, I could have just used Touch of Sand as my neutral pick!

Touch of Sand is another taupey neutral that is like a slightly more pink version of Sherwin Williams Accessible Beige. This color is not used much and I haven’t seen it in real life, but the little bit of peach/pink should work nicely with Whitetail and help both be a little more neutral.

I hope this helped you choose some beautiful coordinating colors for the underrated white that is Whitetail!
