Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik is a saturated true blue that works well in a lot of different color schemes. Today we will take a look at my favorite pairings for Indigo Batik, as well as see the Sherwin Williams recommended color palette.

Really quickly before we hop into the color pairings:
What Are the Undertones of Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik?
Indigo Batik is a fairly dark blue that can have slight gray or purple undertones. Normally it looks like a very true navy or royal blue.

As far as the blue color family goes, Indigo Batik is pretty much in the middle. (A true blue!) There are many blue colors that lean more green, and many that are more purple.

I find that Indigo Batik ranges in appearance from a royal blue to a navy with a slight purple undertone.
Here are a couple different looks to this color, one on each side:

Personally I find that the color is pretty predictable, but if you desperately hate either a brighter blue or purple undertones, you may not like this color.
Sherwin Williams Indigo Batik in a Color Palette
Here are my coordinating color suggestions for working with Indigo Batik:

Coordinating White Paint Color for Indigo Batik
Starting off with a white, you really can’t go wrong with Sherwin Williams Pure White.

This warm white is balanced by just a touch of gray. To be perfectly honest, Pure White is always a safe bet!
You can use almost any white with Indigo Batik, but if you want to really emphasize the blue, go with a creamy one.
Try Indigo Batik with Sherwin Williams Stardew
For actual colors, I would pair Indigo Batik with either a lighter shade of blue, or a sagey green. For a light blue, try Stardew:

It looks a little more green on the swatch, but in real life Stardew usually has similar undertones to Indigo Batik. It is likely to lean a bit more gray when paired with this saturated blue.
You may also like SW Upward or Benjamin Moore Blue Heather.
Pair Indigo Batik and Valspar Sparkling Sage
Sparkling Sage is a very light gray green with undertones that shift between cool gray and warmer green.

I love a deep blue and sage green combo! If you want to stick with Sherwin Williams, Sea Salt is pretty close. You may also like a darker shade like SW Retreat.
Neutral Paint Color to Use with Indigo Batik
For a neutral, I thought the fool proof goodness of Accessible Beige was perfect with Indigo Batik:

Bear in mind that beige colors are technically “orange” and therefore complementary to blue. For that reason, I actually recommend staying with cooler beiges when using Indigo Batik.
This blue will already make your beige look warmer, so I wouldn’t dive too deep into warmth!

Sherwin Williams Recommends These Coordinating Colors
Now that we have gone through my suggestions for coordinating colors, here are the ones that Sherwin Williams recommends:

You may have noticed that they went opposite to my advice and suggest very warm neutrals.
As I said before, this does make sense because warm beige would technically complement Indigo Batik, It’s just not my preference to have beige that looks extra warm or peach/orange leaning.
Pair Indigo Batik and Sherwin Williams Sands of Time
There is certainly nothing greige or cool about Sands of Time:

I’m not trying to be a hater, but I find this beige to be quite dated. I think there are ways to use it, but I wouldn’t be trying to play up that orange undertone.
A nice middle ground could be Sherwin Williams Shiitake:

This color is also on my list of favorite mushroom paint colors for cabinets!
Use Indigo Batik with Pacer White
I’ll stop drinking the h8er-ade for Pacer White, which is a complementary off white that isn’t as “specific” as Sands of Time:

This white is pretty neutral, but it will lean warmer with the rich blue of Indigo Batik.
Pacer White is surprisingly underused for how similar it is to popular off whites like Oyster White or Shoji White.
Try SW Icicle with Indigo Batik
Icicle is a blue gray that is light enough to label as an off white.

This is a good choice to use with Indigo Batik if you don’t want any creaminess in your “white” accent color. Because Indigo Batik is such a strong blue color, I would expect Icicle to look fairly white.

What is the Difference Between Indigo Batik and Sherwin Williams Naval?
If you are considering all of the very best dark blues, you may be wondering how Indigo Batik compares to Naval:

Naval is actually one shade darker than Indigo Batik on the same color strip:

That is the only major difference. I find Naval to be a saturated true navy, where Indigo Batik can kind of hover between mid-toned blue and navy.
Thank you so much for reading until the end! That really helps my blog grow! I hope you got some ideas on how to use Indigo Batik. If it’s not quite the right color, you should take a look at these ones:
